A letter from the President

Welcome to the website for the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Delta Delta Delta!

Tri Delta is an assembly of women with shared values where individuality is encouraged, and sisterhood is powerful. We are brave, bold and kind. We are passionate about serving others, committed to becoming the best version of ourselves and dedicated to helping women live, learn and lead – with purpose – for a lifetime.

A Message from the Chapter President

Welcome to the website of Tri Delta’s Gamma Sigma chapter at Colgate University! We are a large chapter of 160 diverse women who strive to “live kind and lead kind” and offer our members lifelong friendships. Tri Delta was founded in 1888 by Sarah Ida Shaw, who wished to start an organization that was “kind alike to all.” Tri Delta encourages members to be unselfish leaders, to seek intellectual growth, and to aim to become stronger women. Tri Deltas live with purpose and portray our Fraternity’s values through their involvement at the chapter, university, and global levels. The women of Gamma Sigma participate in multiple organizations at Colgate, hold chapter officer positions, and partake in international studies and internships.

Our sisters are involved in a large variety of clubs, sports teams, and leadership roles at Colgate. At Colgate, you can find Tri Deltas just about everywhere: in numerous volunteer organizations, Hamilton’s local EMT organization, Division 1 athletics and club teams, dance groups, academic honor societies, on-campus and off-campus jobs, and so much more.

Our sisters show how we are Brave, Bold and Kind by leading our campus in philanthropic efforts.  We are so proud to fundraise for our national partner, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to contribute to the $70 million Tri Delta has raised nationally since 1999. Our members participate in our Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaign and TriHOP pancake breakfast events to raise a total of $60,000 on average every year. Taking part in fundraising and leadership roles helps us grow as passionate women who are determined to make a difference in the world around us and implement the values of our sisterhood outside of our immediate chapter and campus.

In addition to unselfish leadership and philanthropy, Tri Deltas consistently work towards academic excellence and achievements such as Greek Senior Scholars and other academic honor societies. This year, we are so extremely proud of our Teagan Mackey and Janney Zhao, who were appointed to the Colgate Senior Honor Society, a prestigious organization made up of the 13 strongest men and women in leadership at Colgate.

Tri Delta has become home for all of our sisters on account of the love and support our chapter is built upon. I speak for my sisters when I say that Tri Delta is a truly meaningful part of our Colgate experience. I am so grateful for all of my sisters and the community we've found together. I have also found some of my best friends in this chapter! Tri Delta is built on strong, unique values - I am so extremely proud to lead this empowering group of women.
