Welcome to the website for the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Delta Delta Delta!
Tri Delta is an assembly of women with shared values where individuality is encouraged, and sisterhood is powerful. We are brave, bold and kind. We are passionate about serving others, committed to becoming the best version of ourselves and dedicated to helping women live, learn and lead – with purpose – for a lifetime.
A Message from the Chapter President
Welcome to the website of Tri Delta’s Gamma Sigma chapter at Colgate University! We are a large chapter of 170 diverse and passionate women who strive to “live kind and lead kind” and offer our members lifelong bonds of friendship. Tri Delta was founded in 1888 and our founder, Sarah Ida Shaw, wished to found an organization that was “kind alike to all” while encouraging members to be unselfish leaders, to seek intellectual growth, and to aim to become stronger women. Tri Deltas live with Purpose and portray our Fraternity’s values daily through their involvement at a university, chapter, and global level. The women of Gamma Sigma participate in multiple organizations at Colgate, hold chapter officer positions, and partake in international studies and internships.
Our sisters are involved in a large variety of clubs, sports teams, and leadership roles at Colgate (seriously, it blows me away how involved our sisters are!). At Colgate, you can find Tri Deltas just about everywhere: in Hamilton’s local EMT organization, multiple Division 1 athletics and club teams, dance groups, volunteer organizations, academic honor societies, on-campus and off-campus jobs and so much more.
Our sisters show how we are Brave, Bold and Kind by leading our campus in philanthropic efforts. We are so proud to fundraise for our national partner, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to contribute to the $62 million Tri Delta has raised nationally since 1999. Our members participate in events like our Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaign and TriHOP pancake breakfast to raise a total of $55,000 on average every year. Taking part in fundraising and leadership roles helps us grow as passionate women that are determined to make a difference in the world around us, and implement the values of our sisterhood outside of our immediate chapter and campus.
In addition to unselfish leadership and philanthropy, Tri Deltas consistently work towards academic excellence and achievements such as Greek Senior Scholars and various academic honor societies. This year, we are so extremely proud of our VP/Chapter Development, Karen Aguilar, who was selected for the Konosioni Senior Honor Society, which is made up of the 13 strongest men and women in leadership at Colgate. Our academic chair, Cassandra Bradley, works extensively with members to help them excel in the classroom by planning study sessions/breaks and sharing resources for academic assistance.
Tri Delta has become home for my sisters and me because of the love and support our chapter is built on. I speak for my sisters when I say that Tri Delta is a meaningful part of our Colgate experience and I for one am very grateful for her! Tri Delta is built on such strong, unique values, and I am so extremely proud to lead this empowering group of women.
